Fax status explained
A fax status describes technical processing and the result reported by the fax network. It does not confirm that a person read, processed, accepted, or acted on the document.
Submitted
The order and document have been accepted for technical processing. Submission is not the same as recipient-side delivery.
Processing or sending
The document is being prepared or a transmission attempt is in progress. The receiving line may still be busy, unavailable, or incompatible. Keep the private status link and check again after a few minutes.
Delivered
The transmission provider or fax network reported successful technical transmission to the recipient fax endpoint. This does not prove reading, internal routing, acceptance, legal receipt, filing, or deadline compliance.
Failed
The technical attempt did not complete. The status may include a general reason such as busy, no answer, decline, dropped connection, signaling error, or invalid number. Verify the number and recipient availability before deciding whether to try again.
How long can a fax take?
Transmission time varies with page count, line quality, recipient availability, and retries. A short document may complete within minutes, but no fixed completion time or successful delivery can be guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
Does delivered mean the recipient read my fax?
No. Delivered is a technical network result. It does not confirm that a person read, processed, accepted, or acted on the document.
Is a fax status proof of legal receipt or a deadline?
No. The technical status and payment/submission receipt do not establish legal receipt or deadline compliance. Verify important submissions directly with the recipient and follow the applicable procedure.
Why is my fax still processing?
Preparation, line availability, transmission duration, and retries can delay the final result. Keep the private status link and refresh it after a few minutes if needed.
